I would like to play some solo instrumentals with a cassette rhythm track. What is the best way to attain the volume level and sound quality needed without spending big bucks?

I did this recently at Indy's Mini-Marathon and my boom box just wouldn't cut it. The runners did respond to Kawliga when they got within 50 feet & could hear it!!

There are some Karioki style systems or single performer amp/PA boxes with built in cassette decks I have seen.

A simple mixer with the cassette deck and steel through it would do also, into a simple PA all in one box.

But don't try and play though the steel amp... it just ain't got the highs for decent backing track sound.

The obvious answer is a small PA system which can match or exceed the volume of your Steel . Trying to get any kind of dynamics of tonal characteristics out of a small Boom Box type of deal for a tape or Cd is not in the cards..

Peavey has a PA system with mixer, speakers, speaker stands, and a case that it all stores in. it has 4 inputs plus an input for cd player, etc. Works great for doing a single. Jody.
