I have acquired a 15" EV SRO 15B speaker( probably a bass speaker?). This speaker has a small paper dust cover(about 3") and is 8 ohmes. It has a huge magnet with "fins" on it. Does anybody have any experience with a speaker like this with steel. Could this be reconed to 4 ohmes, ect? How do they compare to the EV 15L's? Would a speaker like this be good to use as an extension speaker with the EV 15L-4 in my Twin?

Yes, It's a bass speaker. So what? I've got a huge Altec-Lansing design cabinet that I built with two of these speakers in it, and it sounds fabulous! The SRO and EVM speakers were some of the best ever made. Before you recone it, I'd try it as-is first...I think it'll surprise you!

(It's also the perfect extension speaker for your Twin.)

Donny, As you were posting, I was playing this speaker. I'd have to say, I'm in total agreement with you---I'm pleasantly surprised! I just might go back for the other two just like it!

I think bass speakers work great, using BW 1502 instead of 1501, smoother sound

I'm currently dealing on 2 more SRO 15B's. They were a matched set of four---white framed speakers. One was sold off already. I got the second one. I am going to keep one more so I have a pair, and sell off the other. If any one wants the extra one, e-mail me. The two that I'm dealing on are definate recone candidates, they are blown.
