I posted this two days ago in TABLATURE and didn't even get one response. At the risk of posting in the wrong area, maybe I can get a response here...
I did a search in the Tablature section and found nothing. Does anyone have the tab for the Asleep at the Wheel version of this song? I'm new to steel and currently working on C6 but any tuning is fine. I was a Music Theory Major so I can transpose it or work it out. Just looking to save a little time if somebody already has it.

Sorry, I don't know of anybody with tablature for that song in C6 tuning. It shouldn't be too hard to figure out if you have the chord pattern.
I haven't heard Asleep At The Wheel's version - is there something special about it?

Nothing really special. The first version they did had Lucky Oceans on pedal steel. The second time they recorded it they had Cindy Cashdollar on her Stringmaster. I don't currently have either recording so to figure it out I would have to go from memory. Just thought I could save some time if somebody had it. Thanks for the reply.

Don your request is somewhat vague; meaning, what exactly do you want tab for? Like the whole song note for note; or just the sections where the steel guitar plays or is there a steel guitar solo in there you want tabbed or what???
I would venture to say that NOBody has tab for the whole song as an instrumental; as I haven't seen it listed in any of the instructional material of instrumentals from the likes of Herby Wallace or Buddy Emmons or Paul Franklin or John Hughey and many more folks like that who specialize in doing instrumental courses.

| FWIW, I think the rhythm track is available from Jeffran Music. It is on a casette tape with some other tunes. I don't believe a chord chart was available with this set. Sorry, can't help with the tab. |

| Don , I used to play the sax part for Choo Choo Ch Boogie in a mid eighties band and I believe Louis Jordan's original version was in the key of F.Boy , people always loved hearing that tune. I think the intro starts off with a simple 5,4,1 vamp then a riff around b3,1,6 then 3,1,6 and maybe 9,1,6 before a 2/5 chord resolution. If you played the verse chord F at the fifth fret you could go to a slanted chord there to get your 5 dominant chord for the chorus and go back and forth twice before sliding up to the 7th and twelfth fret for your 2/5 turnaround.I can't remember what the ending was , I'll have to dig the record out today and give it a listen. Jerry Byrd's book has some great split and slant chords shown in tab form to get your seventh ninth and diminished diads and triads. |

Ricky - Now that you mention it, you're right. There is a nice steel intro and also a steel solo in the tune. The only version I have heard is the one that Lucky Oceans (pedal steel) played on but it is obviously adaptable to traditionsl steel because Cindy Cashdollar played it with AATW. Sorry for the lack of detail and thanks for responding,
Kevin - Yes, the tune always fills the dance floor. I have played it on guitar - looooong time ago. I have only been playing steel for about a month but have a strong background in Music Theory. I'm a'gonna print out your response and spend some time with it. Thanks for your efforts to help.
Thanks for the other replies as well. I'll eventually get this thing figured out. Probably wouldn't hurt to just go out and buy the CD as well.

Don , I got out my Wheel album with the CCCB tune and they are doing it in F . in C6 hi-lo ECAGEC ; the intro is on the 1st ( E ) and second string ( C) and slides into the notes from one fret below like a small horn section would
1.--13-13--10-10--8-8---5--5
2.--14-14--10-10--9-9---5--5
3.-----------------------
4.-----------------------
5.-----------------------
6.-----------------------
The IV chord horn riff following that starts on the first string ( E )
1.---3-4-----------4---------4--------4
2.--------5----5------5----5----5---5--
3.----------5-----------5---------5----
4.-------------------------------------
5.-------------------------------------
6.-------------------------------------
This is then repeated over the F chord but your 3rd and 4th fret first string moves up one fret to the 4th and 5th fret for the major sound. The V chord resolution has a quick pickup sixteenth note and triplet to the climb over Bb and C chords before the verse starts.Last example at bottom.
The 2/5 resolution is only on the
" take me right back to the track ,jack! " stop.
The verse chord works out of the fifth fret F postion on the 3rd,5th and 6th strings and the second and third string 5th fret and fourth fret 5th string for the IV chord. Your V chord is twelfth fret 3rd ,5th, and 6th strings or
