How extensive is the Peavey mod for the older Nashville 400s? what is the cost, and can it be installed me (ie: easily)? Also the mid control is making a hellasious noise
cracking and popping? Thanks Skip

PS Has Peavey ever thought about making a 2 pc. rig? separate session 400 or 500 head with 2 spkr outs? sure might help, since most of the steel players are up in yrs! |

Skip, sorry for the delay in responding to your question. The Peavey kit consists of twenty electronic components and a good technician can install these parts in approximately an hour, excluding assembly and disassembly of the circuit boards. Here is a link to the contents of this kit from the Peavey website;

To order, you may call the factory toll free in North America at 1-877-732-8391, or order the kit through your nearest authorized Peavey dealer. The item number is #90500048 and the U.S. retail price is $29.98 plus shipping. Here is a link to our dealer locator;

NOTE: All Nashville 400's after serial number 08575482 have this mod kit installed into the circuit at the factory.

Mr. Brown, while we're on the topic, how do I know if my amp has the mod or not? (Obviously, I haven't checked the serial number lately) but, assuming mine is older (I think it is), how do I know?

Other than the serial number, the only thing that you can do is pull the chassis and check the components for identification. Here is the parts list;http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/steelguitar/nsh400mo.pdf
Also, here is a board layout to check the identification of the IC's; http://www.peavey.com/media/pdf/steelguitar/Nashville400.pdf
All Nashville 400's were modified at the factory before shipment after serial number 08575482. fyi.

Thank you Mike, you are a scholar and a gentleman.
As I suspected my amp is an older model (# 05911167), so I'll have to crack her open.
