All;
First time I recorded some PSG tracks at home last weekend without amplification (Direct Inject). I should say that the tracks came out pretty good with an Alembic F2B preamp. I have always used Alembic preamp (lots of lows can be added) for my 6 string guitar recording and this is the first time I used with a PSG. Now I know it can done and the tracks can be decent but it all depends on the preamp you use, I think.

Raj, that's a great preamp. If I remember correctly it's modeled after a Fender Showman/Twin type preamp. That circuit has a nice big dip in the midrange that really does a nice thing to guitar and steel guitar. My gripe with going direct, even thru such a nice pre as that, is that you dont get the same punch or realism that you do from a speaker.
