Any ideas on where to find a transformer with identical specs to the one in a BF Bassman? I know the vintage amp dealers will soak you for several hundred bucks. Any sources in a 'reasonable' price range that doesn't capitalize on the vintage market?

Try Mercury Magnetics' AXIOM series. Many choices of vintage transformers for many models.

Hi Larry,
Another source would be
www.hoffmanamps.com
Allen might have a different supplier for his transformers than the other places , but the others will have what you need. Axiom will be the most expensive and Hoffman will probably be the fastest. Happy hunting!

WOW! Thanks, guys.
Looks like most of the suppliers have them. Prices range between $69(Allen) and $90(Hoffman). I believe the Axiom is even more expensive, but I haven't found that one yet. Is there any big advantage to the pricier ones? This amp is turning into a money pit. Any advice?

Try Mojo products. I have a Mojo transformer in my Super Reverb that seems to work well.

Most of the Fender replacement transformers I've gotten from Mojo have the Fender name on them, so I would count them as "the correct part".

Thanks again guys. David's price beat all and when I got as much info as I could together and asked my electrical engineer buddy, he couldn't come up with a reason why the more expensive ones would be better for that application. So, I ordered it from David. Very nice guy on the phone, shipped it off immediately, couldn't ask for more.

Check out the Peter Dahl Company in El Paso. They used to make the best replacements.
