some amp questions...

1. Has anyone tried a keyboard amp, such as the Peavey KB series, with steel? I currently have a Rage 158 as practise amp, but I'm thinking about upgrading...Having heard lots of good things about the Mesa Boogie studio preamp, I plan on buying one of those. Do you think this preamp through a KB amp will sound good? Since keyboard amps are made to handle clean sounds at any volume, wouldn't they work fine for steel?

2. Any opinions on the tubeworks MosValve rt2100 combo? A lot of steelers seem to use MosValve power amps, but I found this combo used at a really good price - worth looking closer at?

Hello Niklas,
I've encountered one or two steelers using a Peavey KB Series amp for steel, however I have not tried one out myself. But, the equalization circuit of a KB amp is different in that you can boost or cut a fixed frequencies on the KB 100 for example.
Whereas, on the Nashville 112 and Nashville 1000 amplifier, the LOW, MID, HIGH and PRESENCE controls are fixed with a mid/shift function for the critical mid range area.
