Does anyone have the knowledge that I need to accomplish my goal? I've tried different pot-values, different tapers, and several different wiring techniques. Every way has produced basically the same undesirable results. I am after a rather slow, gradual taper on my Tone-Control. Each way I've tried gives me no more than about 1/8 rotation until I have gone from Bass to Full-Treble. I've used (2) 500k Audio-tapers, (2) 500k Linear-tapers, and (1) 250k Audio-taper w/1MEG Linear-taper. Each using a .05 cap. I need some experienced help! I'd like to use at least 1/2 Rotation from Bass to Treble! Is this possible?

John,
I don't know what instrument you're dealing with and what the standard stock value pot it uses (If it indeed had a tone pot at all) but you're going in the wrong direction, value-wise. If it were a standard single coil Fender/Sho-Bud type of pickup/instrument, try 100K-audio taper (or 100K-A). Instead of that .05uf, you might also want to try something between .022 and .04uf (I like .027~.033uf myself) for the cap value. Wire it up like a standard Fender tone control. If that doesn't sound right to you, look for a 75K pot, audio taper, or something close to that.

John...
I have seen your ax,and think I understand what you de-sire.....
Now,I think that you(and others) really don't understand the electronic results of what you wish to achieve. Please consult a Electronics "Expert" as to the results that you want.
As you talk to the "Expert",he will get an idea as to just what you wish to accomplish. He will then advise you of what you need to change or re-wire in order to acheive your wanted results.
Lookin' at your post here, I think that you want to have a 1/2 pedal movement to acheive a 100% change in TOTAL value of tone,so there-fore,you need a .02 cap in the the tone section of the pedal. This will en-sure that you get maxiumn change for a small travel of pedal.
Overall, I dont' think that tonal responce is the max desired as opposed to the overall sound heard by the end-user,is as much a really as you(and me) would wish.
Basically,I think that "Linear" taper pot(s) will fill your needs. Its just a personaly opinion, .......
1) Know what you wish to accomplish.
2) Listen to your "Electronic's" tech advice.
3) Do not be afraid to ask questions.
4) Experiment the optional parts of the device.

| Leave the pot at 500K and drop the capacitor value to taste. I would try .022, .027, and .033 for values. They will give you a much smoother taper. |
