Hi I have this tuner and when it's between the steel and the preamp it sounds real bad especialy for C6.
Does anyone have a no-loss splitter box to keep it branched, but not in the audio chain?
Eventually I will get a rackmount tuner and TubeFX and this will be moot, but for now it's still nice to be in tune and not subject to room noise at the same time. |

If your volume pedal has two "out" jacks, you can just run another cord from the extra jack to the tuner. |

If you get a TransTubeFex instead, I believe it has a built-in tuner. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/smile.gif) |

Actually it's into an Avalon U5 active direct box before the A/D converter. Works fine direct out for the studio, but at gig's I would have to either; put it into the alternate input(untried) or use it in and out of the Hartke effects loop. I suspect it would have the same problem. |

I had the same problem. It will definitely color the tone. I have two outlets on my foot volume and plugged it into one of them. Took care of the problem. If you don't have a pedal like this, Boss makes an A-B stomp box, the LS-2, and that will also solve your problem.

My TU-12 distorts even in the alternate output of a Goodrich volume pedal. |

I build a small A/B box that plugs directly into the guitar and has two out jacks and a toggle. It enables silent tuning and cuts the tuner out of the path when not in use. The only downside is that it doesn't have a third option of unmuted tuning---I'm thinking of upgrading to an on/on/on switch for A/AB/B switching. |

I just got a BOSS A/B-2 switch box so I could check tuning without unplugging the guitar. Problem is when you plug anything into this box it turns it on,Its battery powered only, and will remain on as long as you are playing. I guess I better buy a big supply of batterys. I wanted to be able to cut out the amp and check the tuning which it will do, but at the expense of a bunch of batterys. So much for my brilliant idea.

Even distorted on the Avalons direct out. Must not be a buffered pas thru.
But never seems to do this on a guitar or mandolin direct thru it. C6 has some pretty hot levels I guess.
A/AB/B seems about right. |
