Can anyone recommend a portable speaker setup suitable for pedal steel for a Fender Dual Showman head? It takes a 4 ohm load.
How do two 12" cabs like the old Peavey 112e's compare to a single 15"? |

Well David, I used a showman enclosure with 2 15" JBL's and a horn driver on a crossover. But I used a Twin-reverb to drive it. Never cared for the Showmann top.
Great sound with all the bottom you need.

David,....I've never tried it with a Dual Showman head, but I have used two 12" cabinets with a Bassman head with very good results. They were 8 ohm speakers, so the pair matched the 4 ohm output of the Bassman head. I'm sure that the Showman would sound very good with the 12" cabinets. |

Hi David I use a showman head with a 1X15 cab.The 1st was a peavey 115E- sounded great.I now have a Rogers custom cab that sounds equally good but matches the head.I have tried my 2x12 bandmaster cab and didn't like it-at least partially due to the closed back.I also had 2 mods done -replace the treble caps with silver micas and went to 2 6550's(amp now @ 8 ohms)
works for me.... |

The THD 2-12 cabinet is the best cab I have ever heard for steel with a Showman. I would recomend using a JBL (or Peavey) and a Celestion. |
