I was thinking about flying out for the convention. What are the dates? Where do most people stay? Is there a hotel where it takes place? Thanks, Ron

Ron,

With much respect and a little humor thrown in.

"The question you asked is like asking, where the president of the United states lives and just what does a president do?"

Please forgive the humorous metaphor!

Seriously, the ISGC is the grandaddy of ALL steel guitar shows the world has ever known. The "I" in ISGC stands for International and could not be truer. There is NO show that is held in the high esteem (by most players and loyal fans) as this show.

It started in a hotel room 30 yrs ago and they had 75 people and one major player and it has grown continully to a behomoth showroom where upwards of 5000 attend EVERY year. In fact speaking of the place where it is held. It is held in a hotel that has the largest concert hall in StLouis, and the ONLY other hall that could accomadate the hoardes of loyal fans, is "city hall".

When Scotty was asked by the manager of this hotel once "how many rooms do you want?", Scotty replied "ALL of them!!!" Mind you this hotel has 1200+ rooms. Overflows abound in all the surrounding hotels often filling them up as well!

If you have never been to a steel guitar show and you go to this one for the first time, you will see, hear and feel something you cannot do any where else on the face of this earth. Players and fans from all over the world, repeatedly say, "NO matter how many times I come to Stlouis, I still get butterflies in my stomach when I arrive once again. Particularly during the opening ceremonies."

Scotty is the true ambassador to the world of the steel guitar. NO one on this earth has done more for the steel than he has.

May Jesus richly bless this dear man for his dedication that has spanned more than a quarter of a century. And may Jesus bless all its loyal fans, and all of you,

carl

Carl is right on, the ISGC is amazing!

I am lucky enough to live in St. Louis (well except for the weather), and have attended quite a few, even though its easy for me to go I still appreciate how special of an event it is.

Want to try out 10 brands of steels...
no problem

Want to hear an a set by a different legend every 30 minutes.....
no problem

Want to buy almost any steel recording ever made, or instructional material, or accessory.............
no problem

Local musicians who do not even play steel know about it and some even attend.
