I did a search on here for RV-3 problems but didn't find mine. I was doing a webcast gig tonight and during the warm up my amp simply stopped working. I checked all the cables and it eventually began working again with the volume coming back gradually. Then during the first song it cut out again. I disconnected the RV-3 and everything was fine for the rest of the show.
I've been connecting the RV-3 through the Pre-EQ patch on the front of the NV 1000. I have a Hilton VP and connect guitar>VP>NV. My power supply is the 9V Boss 120. I use the LG settings and had the amp really cranked last weekend at a bar gig with no problems. Would greatly appreciate any suggestions.

Hi John. Part of your diagnostics should be to determine if the LED on the RV stays on even when the sound cuts out. In other words, you need to determine of the issue is interuption of power supply. If it goes off, then is there a loose connection at the power plug on the RV? Is there an intermittent short in the wire beteen the wall wart and the plug? Are the contacts dirty inside the in& out jacks of the RV (a spritz of contact cleaner wouldn't hurt)--especially-----I forget if it's the in or out that also has a shorting switch to turn on/off the power.
I recently had some squirreliness with my RV and it was a simple matter of finding a bad splice I made when I lengthened the wire from the wart to the plug. Hope you track this down--it's likely to be something small. |

FWIW. I dunno if this helps or not.
I do know that some RV-3's will act squirrly when they want a new battery, even with the DC power supply connected.
So, I have learned to put in a fresh battery and always run it with the power supply. (Hey, it works)

| I had a similar problem with my RV-3, I noticed the LED was off when the problem occured, turned out the wall wart crapped out on me. |

| John, it's probably the wire shorting out where it comes out of the wall wart. I would say to maybe buy a new power supply unless you could borrow one to see if you have any more touble with it. When those things short out it will shut your amp down too. Larry |

My thanks to all of you. I'm certain it's one of the problems that's been described. I'm going to buy another "wart" as a precaution. There are a number of variables so it's difficult to narrow down. And, I can't seem to reproduce the problem here at home. At least I should be able to eliminate the wart as causing the problem.

| John: another thought (had this problem myself with a DD-3) make sure the nuts holding the input and output jacks are tight. These act as a ground for some of the Boss Units. If they are loose, they can cut out, or make weird noises. |

Not sure if it's relevant to your problem, but I've had problems with the switch in other Boss stompboxes. A flaky switch with an intermittent short or bad connection might be another place to look.
