Has anyone ever put an electric outlet in their seat? I need two plug-ins close to me for a volume pedal and a Profex. They both have wall-warts and take up to much room on my power strip. Can I cut a hole in the side of the seat and mount the outlet flush with the seat without hurting anything? How would you make a cord to go to the power strip?
Thanks,
Johnny

Ken and Dan Rollins, Ark, (501)888-5907, among others, make pack-seats which contain an AC strip built in to the right end, with the cord wrapping around the bottom center section, and out of view for storage. John http://community.webtv.net/KeoniNui/BigJohnBechtels

The seat I used to have had a Sears label on the power strip. He probably used those because they were the right length for the seat, and had a long enough cord to be useful. I don't remember how it was mounted though.

After I bought my seat and decided that I wanted a power strip, Ken was busy with new orders at the time so rather than wait I added this strip from an electrical supply.

I Like it on the back where all the cords, wal-warts etc are out of the way and hidden from the audience. One switch shuts off the power to all of my equipment.

I just looked at my seat and it would be a job to retro one in there. The side it goes on is shorter to allow for the space of the power strip. The strip is held in underneath with a couple of "L" brackets. The visible side slides between the corner moldings on the seat, the corners are put on and then screwed into the strip. Cutting the side of the seat down would be the challenge for me. Gene's idea looks like the way to go for me.

Gene,
What kind of seat do you have there? It sure looks like a dandy. Something I could use.

Joe Naylor from Steelseat.com made mine. He orders some special strip that works great. He might would sell you one.
They are pretty robust. I've had mine several years.

I would not use a power strip unless it was a (good quality) surge protector type. The ones that I've seen on Steeler's Choice seats do not appear to be surge protector type.

I have a Steeler's Choice sidekick model but did not order the model with the power strip because its not a surge protector type.

I may be over cautious, but its the old amp tech in me.

I have put them on steelseats for years

the steelseat Power Strip has an industrial type surge protector in addition to the on/off switch

When you finish you simply reach down with your right hand and turn off one switch - turns off your pedal, effects and amp
