By definition, the Holy Grail is unobtainable, however... I can see it from here

I have my new rack system up and running. It smokes anything I've ever heard anywhere used as a steel amplifier. I'm serious guys, this is such a huge improvement over my combo amps that is is hard to believe. (and I was using two Evans amps)

My final rack is actually two racks because of weight and space issues.

Rack one:
Furman power module
Mesa Boogie Studio Pre
TC Electronics M-One
BBE 862

Rack two:
Sans amp PSA1 (for regular guitar)
Alesis Q2 Multi effects
VHT Two/Ninety/Two Power amp. (WOW! What a cool power amp!)

Speakers:
2 older Pacific Cabs w/BW 15 DT2 4 ohm. (The older steel version)

This system has got to be heard to be believed..... There is so much absolutely smooth power! Do you remember the first time you heard a really good stereo and went "WOW"!!!? This is like that. Heck, it sounds fantastic with ME playing! Just think what it will sound like if somebody good sits down at it. gotta go play!

Ah...the WOW! factor. It's a nice feeling. I may not be the greatest player in the world, but I can tell you that I sure do appreciate the sound of my rack system. It just does it for me. When I finally got all this stuff together over time, my frantic search for 'that sound' really settled down.

Yeah, I know, now I have to get the tone out of my hands - and I'm working on it - but it sure is nice to sit down at some great equipment and play.

Enjoy the new rig.

Bob,
I'm not sharing the power amp, though I easily could. The VHT 2/90/2 is two completely separate power amps in a two space rack. Separate inputs, outputs, and controls. Of course it is also set up so you can also run both amps in mono if you choose. The second preamp I am using (PSA1) is for regular guitar. It is going straight to the board.

How do you like the psa-1? I've always wanted one for guitar. Does it have cabinet simulator for going direct?

So your steel comes out of your stage speakers and your guitar comes out of the monitors? Seems like that would be strange?

thx

Bob,
The PSA1 is a very good analog guitar modeling preamp. It is best at the Marshall and Mesa Boogie overdriven tones. It's Fender clean sound is passable. I have always used a ADA microcab in conjunction with it, though I believe it does have a built in cab simulation.

Both the steel and the guitar come through the monitor. The guitar just doesn't have any stage speaker. Since I only play regular guitar on perhaps six tunes or so, it is really no big deal.
