This amp can produce 300 watts at 4 ohms. It weighs 25 pounds, with a 10 inch sub-woofer, 5 inch mid-range and a 1 inch tweeter.it has an extention cabinet with the same speaker configuration (also very light)it is recommended for bass, guitar, and keyboards.
If it works, it may just be the thing for people with bad backs and shoulders.

Too bad they don't make one for steel.

Has anyone tried it for steel? If it can handle the range of a keyboard and bass, it might work.

Hi Andy,

I just posted a response to your question in the Announcements section.

The Acoustic Image Contra amp that you asked about was designed for upright bass (Double Bass), and it's not really adequate for PSG in my opinion. It's smaller than a Pac-a-Seat and it only has a 10 inch subwoofer style speaker and a five-inch midrange/tweeter. I played a Fender telecaster through it today... and it was nothing special (for guitar). Maybe if you run through a preamp/multi-effects and then into the amp it would be okay for quiet gigs.

Thank you for your much appreciated reply, Doug.

In the announcements section I asked about the Acoustic Image Contra Amp.

In this section, I asked about the Acoustic Image Coda Amp. According to the add, it The Coda amp is designed for Bass, Guitar, and Keyboards. it has Three speakers instead of two that the bass amp has. With some reverb and delay in the effects loop, it just might work if it doesn't break up.

I bought an Acoustic Image Clarus Amp awhile back, thinking it would be the answer to my quest for a small and powerfull amp for steel and guitar. I was very dissapointed, and returned it after exaustive tests with different speaker/cab combinations. The thing is tiny, extremely portable ( the size of a cigar box) and well-made, but unfortunately it just didn't sound good at all.
