I've never owned any of the Peavey steel amps(no particular reason..just havent got one yet) and wasnt aware of that feature. It sounds like an excellent idea. It's explained in a response to the "NV 400 problem" post by Mike Brown. I'm wondering how feasible it would be to install this feature into other steel amps, like an old Evans, webb or fender twin, etc. Preserving the full signal of the guitar regardless of volume pedal levels sounds like a good thing. I've been watching this post on the "pre eq patch" loop that we have been incorporating into our steel amps since 1980 and often wonder why other manufacturers haven't followed suit with this idea. It makes perfect sense to me and it works!
Other amp manufacturers will have to answer your question. Thanks for using Peavey products though.

Mike, I found another advantage in the "Pedal Patch" circuit. If you are using a pedal with a pot that is scratchy, the noise will not be transmitted in the signal if you are using the pedal circuit. FWIW.

Is that a patch point between the pre- and power amp like an FX loop? If you're running FX devices is it between the FX and the power amp?

For those of us that don't use Peavey gear, another alternative is to run your volume pedal in the loop of your processor. My Boss GX-700 allows me to reorder the effects, including the loop, so I can pick and choose which effects I want before and after the volume pedal. This also removed any tone change from the volume pedal and I don't need a MatchBox anymore. |

The "pre eq" or volume pedal patch on Peavey amps are insert points after(post) the first gain stage but before(pre) the equalization circuit. What this accomplishes is no tonal change when you increase or decrease your volume pedal. The circuit including the pre eq patch accomplishes more as a whole which I will explain in an article to be posted soon on the Peavey website.
This insert point is not the same as the PRE AMP OUT and POWER AMP IN jacks that we also incorporate into our amps.
Hope that this helps.
