I've owned a pair of Sony MDR-7506 phones for many years now. I like them but i am constantly aggravated by 2 of their "features". They fold so you can't put them on or remove them with one hand. You can also pinch your fingers in them. Secondly, they have a coiled cord. I HATE coiled cords. I can't tell you how many times these things got ripped off my head because one of the coils caught on the edge of my desk, or stuck on my guitar. Not to mention the gear i pulled of the table because of lack of play in the cord. You can't be more than 5 ft from your gear without yanking it off the table. Or you get closelined and they phones come flying off your head. Why do thay make cords like this ???!

Get a long headphone extension cable and guide the coiled cable behind your back. Tuck it in your belt if needed. Works for me.

The best thing to do would be to buy a pedalsteel and start playing it. That way you will have better things to worry about.

Other than that you might seek counseling to help you to break the cycle of frustration that you seem to have developed with a set of headphones over the coarse of many years.

I've been trying to play this steel for 8 months now & I Wish the only thing frustrating going on with my practice was a pair of headphones!!!! Good luck!

My point is that these are supposed to be popular phones. There must be other people that have these problems. Why can't they be made with smooth cords? I don't think adding an extension would be practical in a bedroom. Bob, maybe i should take your advice and buy a Maverick.

So...let's see, you've "owned them for many years", and yet they constantly aggravate you?

Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Junk 'em, and buy a cheapie pair with straight leads.

Problem solved!

I can't bring myself to junk $100 headphones. They are 20-20 flat response. My problem extends to telephone cords. I've walked around corners and had the phone go flying out of my hand like a pinball plunger. I have determined that y'all have been assimilated and are under pretensioned, coiled-cord mind control. I shall speak no further on this subject.

Find a friendly technician to do field modification. Replace or brace the bracket. Replace cord with quality straight cord.

What's that worth to you? What does the technician charge per hour? What will the replacement parts cost?
