Hope I'n not putting you on the spot.
How was the music? Who did you see? What part(s) did you visit? Did you meet any forum members?

Well, since you asked...there won't be much related to steel guitar in this entry.
It was a wonderful family vacation to one of my favorite places on earth, visiting with my in-laws who live in Honolulu. Had much fun swimming, etc., but heard no music.
While I was on Kauai I thought I'd check out Ken Emerson...no dice. While I was on Oahu my scheduled didn't coincide with any happenings, unfortunately, and I didn't really seek it out. The music I did hear was in bars and restaurants, and was basically 1970s easy listening stuff. I tuned it out.
However, I did hear these 3 guys playing in front of the Pacific Beach Hotel (buskers). At least 1 was Tahitian. One of the guitarists was about 450 pounds and was phenomenal. I hung with them for a while and enjoyed what I heard.
I didn't touch a guitar for almost 2 weeks and when I arrived home I got a call to do a gig that night at Waikiki Wally's in NY, and it was the first time I'd used my Fry Pan. What a treat.
I purchased this gigbag in a uke shop, specifically for my Fry Pan. Fits perfectly lengthwise.
BTW, tomorrow (Sunday, 6/6, 4PM) free concert: 3 Farms Benefit at East River Amphitheater, featuring the Moonlighters, Laura Cantrell, and David Johannson. |

Shhhh! Don't let Brad hear you. He might move this to feedback & testing!
Well, you didn't miss much in NY/NJ.
Sounds like a great line up for Sunday. If I were in town I would certainly be there.
I look forward to seeing the Moonlighters again. It will have to be a during the week gig though. Please keep us posted. |

Like I said, it was a family reunion-type trip, so it wasn't really a priority for me on Oahu to hear any music. I already had plenty on my plate. |
