Does this exist: 3/4" x 1" diameter bar ???

I'm currently playing (8-string) lap with a standard Hawaiian Jerry Byrd-sized bar (3/4" diameter x about 2.75" in length).

However, everytime I get to sit in front of my buddy's pedal steel and play with the 1" bar, the size and weight feel quite natural to me; I think it might fit my hand better.

BUT for playing slants, short bars (~2.75") make more sense.

SO...are there any short 1" diameter bars out there? 2.75" x 1" diameter, for example.

(My sister said the eastern european fellas in the shop at her engineering firm might be able to fabricate some stainless steel bars to my specs for the price of some good potato vodka. Maybe I should take them up on it. It could be a whole new cottage industry... Shooter Bars [TM]...

Boy, a 2.75" diameter bar would sure build up the old muscles. I'll bet it would really have good tone too!

Jim Burden at Bullet Bars can make you any size you want.

He's made me some cool customs ...

1" x 2 3/4" ( 1" diameter x 2 3/4" length)

7/8" x 2 3/4" ( 7/8" diameter x 2 3/4" length)

The 3/4" diameter and the 2 3/4" length is the "JB" prescribed "size" for slanting.

Jim's have the best "butt" in the business ... a fantastic indent for reverse slants ...

I liked them so much I had them TDC plated ...

Aargh!

Of course, I meant: is there such a thing as a *TWO-AND-3/4" x 1" diameter bar. I don't think a cubic inch of stainless steel will do anyone any good.

Thanks for the leads. Bullet Bars seems like a good choice.

Rick, how do you like the thicker 2-3/4" bars? I find I get a little crampy holding the small bar sometimes (I started on a big Shubb-Pierce SP-1, then went to the JB style).

I use 'em to warm up sometimes ...

They are just too heavy to do what I'm doin' these days ...

But they are a good "workout" ...
