Picked Friday afternoon and every thing
worked fine. Moved about 50 miles to a
different job Friday night, hooked every
thing up, turned on the Transtube Fex and
got a signal light (green) and the readout
said "Transtubefex Peavy preamp/FX and no
amount of button pushing would cause any
thing to change or get any sound out of it.

Hooked it up this morning and discovered that
the only thing it will do is initialize.

Where's the go button? Anybody have any good
ideas or does it need to go to Mississippi?

Thanks

Sounds like it's hung up. Do a "factory reset" and see if that clears it. However, when you do the factory reset it will clear out your user programs.

To reinitialize the unit, hold the DOWN and RIGHT arrow buttons and then turn the power on.

Done that Jack and all indications are that
the reset worked (reinitialized blinked on
briefly on the readout) but it had no effect
on the frozen up operational condition.

Any oyher ideas?

That's about the only operator function that I can think of. If it stays hung up I'd suggest calling Mike Brown at Peavey Monday.

Thanks Jack,

Appreciate the info.

By the way,how can you tell when the battery
needs replacing in a transtubefex?

It's supposed to give you a warning. I'm not sure what it displays. But, I don't think your problem is battery. If the battery died, you would lose your user presets but nothing else.

There is a guy on the Tubefex bulletin board at Yahoo that sells a battery eliminator kit for Tubefex and Transtubefex, won't work on Profex:

Subject: Battery Eliminator Parts

Guys,

I just got another shipment of parts in for the battery eliminator mod. If
you are interested now is the time to order.

Please send a money order for $20 made out to Tim Batt:
Tim Batt
128 Memory Lane
Harvest, AL 35749

It is a static RAM memory upgrade that does not require battery backup.

I just replaced 4 batterys that were leaking this weekend, two in Autographs and two in Profex 2 units. They tend to do a lot of circuit board damage if left to long in that condition. Just open the top and take a look! It is soldered to the circuit board, about the size and shape of an "Root Beer Barrel" candy. Clean it with acetone or denatured alcohol and a Q-tip. Peavey does a great job, send it in for a new battery and check up! It's be ready for another 5 to 10 years with the new NiMh battery they are using. The battery is an industry standard, good quality battery that they have used, but they do require replacement.

Hope you guys understand, I am only trying to be helpful here with a great product line by Peavey, I am in no way associated with Tim Batts and am not promoting him or his modification. I have not tried his mod, I ordered one today. I'll let you guys know how it worked for me and what level of difficulty is involved in the mod.
