Hey Ray, glad to see the JBFC up and going again. For some reason the Jerry Byrd selections will not play but the Ray Montee music file plays good. Check it out and let me know if I have a problem at my end. Happy Trails...

Hi there Kenny Dail! You are absolutely correct. I did something wrong and neither of Jerry's tunes are playing yet. I had to drive today so plan to work on it tonight and again in the morning, if not yet corrected.
I think everyone will enjoy Red Foley's old, old tune, one of those most unique and fabulous sounding creations of his.
Thanks to you and all for your patience. We will never move again so we will never have to cope with this problem again (hopefully!). |

Well Kenny and others......
I offer my apologies but after another two hours this morning, I'm still unsuccessful in getting "Twilight Blues" on-line....
My Techy is back in California once again. This is so maddening to me, I'm rapidly running out of hair to pull!
I've got a pix/detailed, step by step, instructional book I've prepared on very step to take and this has been done and yet NOTHING. Everything is there but the music! I'm about ready to toss in the towel. |

Hey Ray, don't worry about it! I myself am content to wait 'til the cows come home-- or for your techie to get back from California, at least-- to hear these tunes. Good things-- like tasty Byrd recordings from your collection-- come to those who wait...  And anyway, take it easy on your hair, or you'll end up like me-- no hair on top whatsoever! |

| Jerry's tunes are now playing; a good opportunity to see what C6th PLUS the sixth string C# will do for YOUR music/playing. ALso excellent opportunity to learn how great JB was in his early beginnings with Red Foley, just after he left E. Tubb. Hear the great one-of-a-kind sounds of that little six string Rick and that smallish Volu-Tone amp that he used to use. Let us know what you think about it. |

Twilight Blues is a new one for me and
so typical of the early Jerry Byrd with that
"loose" and "fluid" left hand.
Maybe you can answer a question I have Ray.
Did Jerry do a tune called "Three String Swing"? Why it would be called three string swing,,,I don't know?? Maybe I got the wrong word?

Roy: I remember that Three String Swing and while I don't have an authorative answer, I always thought it was because he and Chet always did their respective parts on the first three strings. Maybe Ray will pop in here and set me straight...

Jerry's "3-String Swing" is because the steel, lead guitar and fiddle are each playing a one note part; thus, three string swing. Listen closely, and you can pick them out, AFTER Jerry's solo intro.
When Jerry and Chet played together, Jerry would often play two parts and Chet or Zeke would ad the third part. Fat SOUND! |

Roy and Paul: Take a listen to the tune on the Jerry's Music page..........
It's that old Red Foley record "A Smile Will CHase Away a Tear". Jerry, Zeke and Tommy Jackson are doing some more of that classic three string swing. Great sounds! Easy to listen to. Sorely missing in today's music performances. |
