| I heard it was because Zeke Turner hollowed out his big Epiphone from the bottom and promptly pattened the idea. Zeke cut out a large section on the back/bottom side and just left it open forever. |

Here's the back of my "Blue Ace".
Much thinner ... one piece ... integrated nut/bridge ... string thru design ... nice directional "rays" to channel vibrations ...
A very good design and a heck of a steel guitar ...
I haven't given up the thought of having a mold done for these ... although my initial quote for a compression mold for thermoset plastic was $65,000 for the stainless steel mold.
Maybe its time to look into sand casting aluminum for this design ... made a nice ashtray in metals shop in 10th grade that way ...  |

Actually I'm gonna try my hand at aBackyard Foundry ... this summer.
If I set the neighbors corn field on fire ... I might have to talk with your casters 
I'm goin' with the Academy shape ...

I use RTV (room temperature vulcanizing) silicon for molds ... in my neodymium magnet assemblies ... its wonderful stuff.
I had thought about experimenting with it ... using various polymers/fillers/additives ...
But the whole "cast aluminum" thang just appeals to the "Tim the Toolman" in me ...
Bill Creller had talked about getting a "run" of frypans cast locally ... so once again he is credited with planting these "ideas" in my head ...
Some other folks told me sand casting may be the best way to go ... and since I like to do stuff myself (much to my wife's dismay ... the latest "Plating Tank" purchases had her  eyes rollin') ... though I'd give it a-go.
Whats a few 3rd degree burns here and there

Got the "Okie Dokie" from the big boss today ...
She did whip out a derm text to show me what they call "Full Thickness Burns" (3rd degree) ...
Ordered some of the stuff today ... gonna be a HOT summer !!!!
