Hi,
I'm playing in a Patsy Cline revue at a local theatre, and after a week of rehearsal we played for our first audience tonite.
Well, at the start of Act II my 400 started making snap crackle pop sounds, like a bowl of rice krispies, a constant static sound. Very weird, first time it ever happened to me. And, definitely NOT the place to have it happen.
After the show was over I plugged the amp into a ground lift, flipped the amp back on, and the problem was cured (or so I thought). We had a rehearsal after the performance, and eventually the snap crackle pop sound came back.
What do you think the problem is? This is very frustrating!

I can repeat what Mike Brown and Jack Stoner have said in previous threads on the NV400:
"Check the molex connector that goes to the reverb."
Pull it out, spray some contact cleaner on it and reinsert it.
You might also "exercise" the control pots.
With the amp off, turn each knob through it's range about 10 times.
Those are the simple things to try if you haven't done them already.
Beyond that, the snap,crackle noise can be caused by a capacitor or resistor that has deteriorated.

You are soooooooo correct Blake. And if you don't turn the amp OFF, you probably WILL the next time you turn them, IF they have not been adjusted in a while.
And this is particularly true of the "Mid" and "Shift" controls.
If it has not happen to you yet, you can not imagine the ear piercing "PoP" they can produce. It has happened to me twice.
And it aint evah gonna happen ta this dude agin. The last time it happened my ears rang all day.
It is the loudest pop I have ever heard.
