I can get a mix off the PA, and want to listen to it thru an earphone.
It would really help w/intonation etc. This is for an all acoustic (mics) setup.
It would be for violin-though I play a bit of lap steel.
Any suggestions on full spectrum belt-mounted headphone amps?
I need something with vol and tone control.
My guess is that typical guitar practice units wouldn't be suitable.
thanks--I haven't had much luck finding the
right equipment. --Joel

Joel, my band uses wireless in-ear monitors for 95% of our gigs- I think this is what you're after, they come with a transmitter unit that you plug the board feed into, and a small beltpack receiver and ear buds. The more you spend the better the sound unfortunately- around $300 is the bottom of the line. You might be able to do fine with a decent headphone amp for the recording studio, Rolls, Rane etcc. make great ones for around $150-200. Just run the board feed into that and a set of 'phones. Rolls also makes a small headphone amp box that runs around $90 that works well, I use one of those in my practice rig. Godd luck!

I use a PEAVEY HB-1 headphone booster amp that works perfect for monitor purposes.
It is actually a stereo unit but I have an adaptor allows me to use it mono.
