Topic: need help with goodrich pedal |

THis is a Goodrich L120 LowBoy.
I was playing tonight and the pedal started to be scratchy (not volume playing scratchy just like something rubbing inside the pedal) I couldn't find anything wrong, but there was a loose end on the string. THe problem now is that I can't get the string hooked on right to get the pedal worked. Can someone please tell me how these pedals are wound up starting with the end that winds around the brass end? It goes around the allen screw and then to a screw on a metal bracket but I'm doing something wrong because it's not working. Are both ends of the string suppossed to be hooked to something? Because there was a loose end when I took the back off.Thanks for your help. |

I had the same problem recently and chatted with one of the Goodrich boys in Dallas about it. Here's the procedure:
Start with the string tightened down around the screw on the "floor" (which is actually the underside of the moving part of the pedal, but we're lookin' at this thing upside-down, so I'll call it the "floor").
Turn the barrel with the allen head screw on it all the way till it stops. (Unfortunately, sittin' here I can't recall if that's clockwise or counterclockwise; sorry!)
Pull the free end of the string up and wrap it once around the allen head, then 2x around the brass barrel (on the "outside"/free end of the barrel, beyond the allen head screw).
Then push the pedal down (as if the volume was full "ON", and pull up on the string to remove the slack.
Now pull the string taut over the metal post next to the barrel and around the screw on the post, and tighten same.
That should do it. If not, then you probably guessed wrong about the clockwise/counterclockwise thing (see above). Start over and guess again.

It is Clockwise. Turn the pot shaft clockwise(to right) and wrap string clockwise; so it should be now coming up under the pot shaft and hook around the screw on bracket that hold the string.
