I am pleased to announce that the Peavey Session 500 and Peavey Profex II modification kits can be ordered through your authorized Peavey dealers or through the Parts Department here at the Peavey factory. The Parts Department can be reached in the U.S. at (601)483-5365. The Nashville 400, Session 400 Limited and the Vegas 400 mod kits can be viewed on our website at "www.peavey.com". They can also be ordered from your dealer or from the factory. To view, select PRODUCTS, then AMPS & MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, then locate the GUITARS AMPS & ENCLOSURES. In that section, the is a selection for "STEEL GUITARIST INFO". This will bring you to several different topics concerning steel guitar applications, endorsers, and Prime Players!
If you use Peavey gear in your steel guitar setup, feel free to send it to me here at the factory. I can be reached at 1-877-732-8391 in the U.S. and (601)483-5365 outside the U.S..

Note; All Nashville 400 amplifiers that have a serial number higher than 08575482 have the modification kit already installed into the circuit from the factory.

Chuck,

I just purchased and installed the mod kit on my Nashville 400, It's EXCELLENT, really improved the sound (to my ears, anyway). Since Mike didn't mention the price, I won't, but I ordered it from my Peavey dealer and it's very inexpensive (less than it cost to take the grandkids to McDonalds). It took me about an hour and a half to install it. I recommend it!!

Regards, Patrick

If I still had a Session 500 I wouldn't consider any mods for it. I had one of the original (smaller case) models that I played for 15 years. I felt it was the best steel amp Peavey had ever made. I only went to the Nashville 400 (with factory tone mod) because of the weight.

My comparison is my Nashville 400 with mod is just about equal in tone to what my Session 500 was.

I tried some of the newer (replacement) op-amps, I got from Peavey, in my Session 500 and didn't like the change in tone and went back to the original 5532 and 4558 op-amps.

My Stock Session 500 sounds a whole lot better than my Vegas 400 with the Lemay mod.
I wouldn't mess with it.

I can't comment on the Peavey Mods, because I haven't heard them yet, but I did recently install the Lemay mods in both Nashville 400s and Session 500. I thought the Lemay mod Nashville was a tremendous improvement. I never liked the factory original. I just could never like the cold hard sound they got. I would be happy playing the moded Nashville 400 out. I did like the Session 500 pretty well just as it came from the factory, and I still own mine. It is just too heavy for me to lug around anymore. The Session 500 I put the Lemay Mod in, I seemed to think was a slight improvement, but nothing compared to the improvement in the 400, of course I liked the 500 to start with. I'm not sure it was worth the effort and expense. Since I don't plan on using mine to play out with anymore, I don't plan to install it in my own. If it were my only amp and I wasn't going to buy another one in the future, I would probably modify it, but if you were going to have to pay someone to do the job and with the cost of the parts, you would be better of to just buy a new Peavey 1000. They sound better and weigh less, and you would have a new amp, under warranty. All guitars sound different though and everybody likes different tones. Just my own personal preference and I play an Emmons.

If I liked the tone of the Session 500 better than the Nashville 1000, I wouldn't modify it, because it will sound closer to the 1000 after you do it.

I got a Session 500 last Oct and was not totally satisfied with the sound. It was OK but I ordered the LeMay mod and spent an hour and a half and WOW, a new amp with the power of two locomotives and then added a Hilton pedal and I never sounded better, so the mods kits do make a big diff, Gary
