| My Brother Has A Mid 60's Fender Super Reverb Amp That Has Been Sitting In His Closet For The Last 30 Yrs.The Amp Is In Pretty Nice Condition, Except For Two Little Nicks At The Bottom.It's A Blackface With 4 10" Fender Speakers,With The Original Reverb & Tremolo Footswitch.Although The Cover Has Seen It's Better Days It Probably Could Be Sewed Up.He Bought The Amp In The Late 60's From A Steel Player In Waynesboro Pa,And Judging From The Condition Of The Cover It Was Probably 4 Or 5 Yrs. Old When He Bought It.Anybody Have Any Idea What It's Worth ? |

yeah that's an "Ebay price", but in line with what someone would likely pay for a cherry BF Super Reverb- UTB (under the bed) for 30 years all original clean condition...
what do you mean by "Take the Big One"??

My opinions on the appropriateness of the Super Reverb for steel, pluses and minuses:
Pluses:
It's a Fender tube amp, so there is a built-in quality of sound for those that like that sound;
The vintage market smiles on those amplifiers;
It has a "less-biting" sound than 15" JBL loaded amps;
Great for music rooms, recording dates, and small room gigs if you dig that sound.
Minuses:
It's heavy and unwieldy for the power offered, and difficult to get in and out of a car;
It's underpowered for many current steel usages.
I found the 4-10" configuration to be quite "mellow, mid-range-y" but in the good, soft way. I had one briefly in the 60's before I got my Twin Reverb, and back around 1980 I used one to teach with in a music store. A Lloyd Green sound is easier to reproduce on a TR, but I found a built-in "Chalkeresque" fatness to the Super Reverb speaker configuration. I could never find the biting JBL 15" sound that I like in the amp, however. On the other hand, if you play through a pickup with lots of high-end, such as an E-66 for example, there may be plenty of highs for you coming out of the amp.
But for a fat, mellow Chalker sound at low volume, the Super is super! 
I've also heard of guys getting a good result from loading these babies with JBL 15's. It's still a 40W amp, with basically the same power limitations.
Opening the closet and finding $1000 is real nice, too.

| Thanks Guys, For The Information. My Brother Thanks You Also.He Like Myself Had Some Idea That It's Value Exceeded What He Originally Payed For It.(Around $300.00),He Thought Around 5 Or $600.00, I Thought Maybe A Couple Hundred More,But Neither One Of Us Had Any Idea It Was Up In The $1200.00 Range.He Originally Bought This Amp For His Son,Who Only Fooled With It A Couple Of Times And Then Lost Interest,So, In The Closet It Went.That Was Back In 1969.BTW He Also Has A Univox Guitar That IS In Mint Condition,About The Same Vintage, That Neither Of Us Know Absolutly Anything About.Does Anyone Know Anything About That Piece.By Todays Standards It Looks Like A Fairly Well Crafted Guitar. |

Dale,
If he hasn't plugged in the amp and turned it on yet,tell him DON'T until he has a tech check it out.
I was just reading something the other day by someone who turned on an amp that hadn't been used for 20 or 30 years.Since the filter caps were dried out,it instantly fried several components in the amp. |
