I have a Magnatone Lyric D-8 that I was thinking of converting to a D-7 by replacing the bridge and nut . Wider spacing is the goal. THe outside neck sounds great on this guitar by the way, although it's definitely a mid level instrument, Would you have to scout up a machine shop to custom make this, using the Mag's 8 string bridge and nut as a model ?
Can you suggest anyne that may already have done this that can offer any tips

thanks

You will have to change the pickups also, if they are the type with poles...one for each string. The new spacing would put the strings out of alignment with the poles. If the pickups are the "lipstick tube type, you could get away with re-spacing the strings. I'm not familiar with that guitar, but thought I would mention the pickup situation.

Thanks , I forgot to mention the pickup issue and you are correct . I'd also have to find a bar pickup wide enough.
