Mike, first let me join the other forumites in thanking you for being so accesible and taking the time to answer all the questions.
My question is concerning a "spider web" spkr. that I recently acquired. It came to me with what appears to be a 1502 basket. It has the deep, square frame,
ribs on the cone and the dust cover is black paper. This basket started making a buzzing or rattling noise after a short time. Sounds like the voice coil to me. I have an older 1501 shallow basket that is several years old and packaged in an old box. I would like to use this basket on the "spider" magnet. I installed it briefly on the magnet and it seemed to work ok at lo volume, however I do not want to damage it. Can you tell if they are compatible from the numbers? The number on the magnet is 081125. The basket is marked 76010004. Thanx.

Hello Jerry,
Thanks for your kind comments about my support of the Forum.

The older "Peavey Spider" magnets do not fit any Peavey basket manufactured past that vintage of magnet(late '70's). In other words, it worked well with baskets made at that time. But, as we improved the design of the voice coil, increased the power handling, improved the performance and overall efficiency of the Black Widow series, physical changes had to be made in order for the RB's and magnets fit precisely. My e-mail address is "mikebrown@peavey.com" should you have other questions.
