I just started rehearsing with a band and the
guitar player was using a Peavey Duece tube amp. This amp sounds punchy and clear and very Fenderish. I wonder what a steel guitar would sound like though this amp! I'll plug into it at reahearsal after the holidays. |

Hi Len:
The Peavey Deuce is a good guitar amp but IMHO its just a little edgy for steel. Maybe a 15" speaker would solve the problem.
The Peavey Classic is the same amp with half the power and its amazing how these amps cut thru on a loud stage. Maybe its the tube output. |

I had a Peavey Duece in the 70's that I special ordered with a 15" Electro-Voice speaker. It was a great amp for steel at the time although it was a back breaker. |

Again, this would be a great opportunity for Forumites to let the rest of us know how a "non steel amp" works for a steel application. I would try this out and give my opinion, but it is unlikely that I could find this model, even though I'm at the factory. |

I bought a new Peavey Mace with Black Widows in 1980?. I chose it because the reverb worked on both channels and I needed an one amp for giutar and steel. It was a great amp for both guitar and steel, and had a lot more power than a Twin. It was the same as the Classic and Duece but it was a hundred and sixy watts with six 6L6 power tubes. A real monster of an amp.

Mike Brown - I have a Deuce but my reverb harness / connector cable set is missing. What tank do I need to use with this amp? I have a bunch of old Accutronics tanks lying around here, but how much would a new cable set be from you guys, and what tank does it need?
Thanks
