Jim-
A friend of mine had a GD Walker Stereo Steel outfit, effects and all. He got all kinds of great sounds out of it.
I wonder how Gerry got the weight down to 31 Lbs on the JBL 15 inch speaker and cabinet. That sounds almost impossible to me. I had a JBL and it weighed 25 Lbs even without the cabinet.

I have the Walker amp , I have had this almost 4 years . I think it is great.
I also have a Pv 400 good amp but does not give me what I am looking for. I hate it every time i pick it up. |

| I must cast a vote for Gerry's Stereo Steel, I've been playing it for about 4 years and still love it everytime I turn it on!! Gerry is a great guy and gives great service, not that I've needed any. I don't know about the other's because I quit looking when I got this amp!! |

I get the impression that cost is not much of a factor in deciding on which rig to purchase. These would all be great systems.
I have had to stay with Peavey equipment due to price limitations, and for the most part it does a good job for "bar room playig". My rig is a ProfexII, DPC 750, BBE 482 Sonic Maximizer thru a pair of Nashville 112E speakers. This will have to do until I hit the lottery.

| I don't mean to be ignorant with my statement, Allen, but didn't I see somewhere that you were a newbie? If that's true, I wouldn't worry too much about the choice of any of these rigs, they're all great. I would concentrate on much practice. At a newbie stage, you probably can hardly tell the difference. Again, no offence intended, but this equipment thing gets out of hand sometime. We should be discussing technique and licks and music more. Most equipment is way over people's ability anyway. |

I will be the first to agree with you, John - at least in my case. But, I'll tell you, for me, having nice stuff and getting the sound that pleases you SURE makes it nice to sit down and practice more often and longer....

Ken from BROWARD COUNTY FLORIDA reporting in, I promise if you guys let me vote on this matter I'll punch the card all the way through, no dimples to worry about and no hand count, re-count, machine count we'll let the computer count my vote. I do have an attorney on stand by if things get out of hand. So big deal southeast Florida has messed up who's going to fill Billy & Hillary's pants, hopefully by St Paddy's' day the count here should be over with. Trust me guys on this matter of voting which ape sounds great or it a amp we are voting for here. Decisions, decisions...........

I had a mosvalve amp but replaced with a stewert that you should try. John Hughey uses one it sound as good to me and is 20 pounds lighter. I tried a lot of preamps and settled on the stereo steel I would also like to try a evans one of the few I havent. I have a korg A3 a stereo steel preamp and a stewert power amp in my reack. It sound as good as anything Ive heard has about 500 watts a side and weighs 20 pound in the rack. I use marrs cabinets with JBLs 15s and they weigh 25 pounds. I think my heavist piece of equipment is my pac a seat.You should consider the stewert by al means

Allen. I have a setup that is close to #1. The only excemption is I have the Tube Works RT 924 preammp (mod) the RT 921 reverb unit and for my effects I chose a Roctron Intellifex LTD. Great effects and clean. My amp is the Mossvalve 1500 and speakers are Peavey 1502's. Pretty much the same setup as Herby Wallace with exception in the processor. George L 10-1 pickups in my Mullen. I agree with Steve that you will no doubt have an itch to experiment with other toys before you are completely happy with your sound. Good luck.
