I recently aquired a Stereo volume pedal.My steels only have one out put jack.Even if they had two,they would have to be wired in parallel with only one pickup .So how do you get "stereo" with only one pickup/one input?I can Y the single output jack to feed both inputs on the pedal but is this Stereo?
This is a true Stereo pedal with 2 seperate pots inside..

The only "stereo" steel I saw was at the Wheeling Jamboree about three tears ago. It had a second pickup installed in front of the first near the fret plate. Then it was run to two amps set about 6 feet from each other. Was a nice setup, but I really didn't hear any difference in sound untill he set the other amp to use what I can only describe as a stereo chorus effect.
I'd be interested in what you do with it as i have a spare "Super Sustain II" pickup for my MSA and love to tinker

What brand/model is the pedal?
I have a Goodrich with one input and two outputs. If you have 2 inputs and 2 outputs it might have been intended to be used in an effects loop where both left and right in/outs are available all the way around. In that case you would go directly from the steel to the amp input, and put the V pedal in line with the stereo effects loop.
This is just a guess. |

I'm just more or less joking here, but it looks to me like you should have thought this out a little more before you bought it. You got a four wheel drive when you only needed two. I also have a goodrich stereo pedal and only use one amp (my wife says thats to many) but I plug my tuner into the other one.

Here's how it was described to me, but I still have a few questions...
Using 2 jacks on the guitar:
1. PSG jack #1 to FX unit in (left)
2. FX unit (left) out to 1st jack on vol. pedal
3. PSG jack #2 to FX unit in (right)
4. FX unit (right) out to 2nd jack on vol. pedal
5. Vol. pedal out to amp
OK - In my rack setup, I go from preamp out (left and right) to Lexicon FX in (left and right) and then to the power amp. So, the FX in/outs are taken. Can you hook a stereo rig up through the available preamp in/out loop?
I can't answer the question about needing two pickups, and how the 2 jacks on the PDG have to be wired. I'm not sure what all this gets you anyway. I can get stereo effects with my existing Lex anyway.

| At one time, Franklin guitars offered a "stereo" option. I don't know if it's still available. I didn't order it on my Franklin as I couldn't see what "stereo" with one pickup was going to get me. |

I run my volume pedal in the effects loop of my Boss GX-700. It's mono, but if it were a stereo loop, a stereo volume pedal would be very nice. I run my mono and attack based effects before the loop and stereo and time based effects after the loop, but I'd prefer to run them all before the loop.

Paul Sr. is no longer making the 'stereo' guitars, but they did have 2 jacks (in fact, that's where I got the above information). However, I really have no clue how the second jack is wired up, Jack. |

If you have a true stereo vol ped (two different ins and outs). Plug steel into stereo FX. Then Fx into both channels of your stereo vol ped. Run outputs of ped into two amps. This runs your FX at a consistant imput level which sounds better.

From looking over that steel in St. Louis it has a separate output for each neck as it is currently wired. If you want to leave your amp setup the way it is now I would have the outputs summed and use one like you always do and the other for a tuner. Or maybe just have one summed output if it sounds better that way.
