Daymon, I'm not sure but the internal battery inside the unit probably crapped out. I believe the Profex has one to keep the programs in line while the unit is turned off- It can be replaced, some kind of watch battery or something. It's also possible to freak those units out with a good jolt of static electricity. One fun thing you'll discover- if you play out in the sun- the display charachters will all vanish until you get the thing back in the shade. Makes changing programs really fun! If you can find a cache card, (several kinds of keyboard memory cards work, not just Peavey) Jeff Newman, Peavey or any of us could reload it for you and mail it back so you can reload the programs, of course in my case you'd have to settle for my goofy presets!... Let me know if I can help. Mike Brown at Peavey might have some more info for you, good luck.

Mr. La Point . . . We are here in the Dallas area and we are an authorized Peavey dealer.

If you bring in your Tube Fex, we can reprogram it for you at no charge.

We also have in stock Peavey's Cache Card 32*** which works on all 3 of these so you can keep the programs saved separately in the future:
  • Tube Fex
  • Trans Tube Fex
  • Pro-Fex II

***already loaded with steel guitar pre-sets

Yes, Carter Steel guitars to the rescue again, and again, and again. Thanks Ann for being right there at all times. Do you guys realize how important and nice it is to have Carter reprogram your Fex's and give you an extra card for safekeeping. It is worth doing. I just can't believe and understand how one builder can do so much for so many, besides just selling steel guitars. With that kind of attitude, Carter guitars will be there for many years in the future...al

Yes!!!!! Ann, John and Bud at Carter are really customer oriented. They do a great job.

Another option is to send your card to me here at the factory and let me reload the card with steel presets at no charge, except for postage costs.

The Cache Card 32(ram card) is the item that has the watch battery in it. The battery can be purchased at any drug store, Wal Mart,etc.. The internal battery of your Profex II, Tubefex or Transtube Fex has to be replaced by a qualified technician. It's good practice to periodically check the battery for leakage after 2 or 3 years of use.
