It could have been a Mosrite Fuzzrite...they(Mosrite)were located in Bakersfield too. There is a company making a clone of the Fuzzrite...the"Fuzzbrite"...there is an original on Ebay right now for$650...wish I'd have kept the one I paid$15.00 for in the 9th grade!

Boy Dave, did you have to pick Buck's "absolute worst song to ask a question about?
Steve's right, the Fuzzrite would have been a logical choice. That one, along with the Maestro, E-H, Ace-Tone, Vox, and the old Sam Ash "Boxx" are about the only ones that were around 'way sold back then. But then again, I built my first one (a 1-tube model) myself in 1965, so he could have had one made too.
If you like, I can look all the models and when they were first released. |

Donny- I'm askin' for a friend... I think I'm in agreement with you about the relative merit of the tune in question ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/wink.gif) |

i remember seeing them play that song on a tv show when it came out and saw don switch it off after the solo. it was a little black box plugged into his guitar. shortly after, i had to buy a vox because it was the only one the store had that would work with the tele's recessed output jack. |

I had a Fuzzrite, too, Steve. My parents bought it for me for Christmas. Don't remember when I parted ways with it, but I wish I hadn't. |

steve. the bosstone wouldn't work on a tele because of the tele's recessed output jack so i chose the vox. the vox was a little black box as well. why am i wasting brain cells remembering this ? oh well, still got the tele and the fuzz.[This message was edited by Gary Spaeth on 04 December 2006 at 07:26 AM.] |

Gary, when this first came up it crossed my mind about that recessed jack...I tried a couple of effects on my Telecaster that mounted that way and it seems like some would plug all the way in and some wouldn't...of course this was 30+ years ago...maybe somebody who was around Don then would know(JayDee?Tom?)...

Steve,
I had a blackface Deluxe Reverb which I set on top of a 2X12 Bassman cabinet, and I used all 3 speakers. That amp must've been running at 2 ohms, and I had no clue what I was doing! Sounded great, though. Plenty of good distortion
When the solid state craze hit, I sold that Deluxe for $50 and bought a Kustom 150. I'm an idiot ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/redface.gif) |

i think the show i saw buck on was the glen cambell goodtime hour.[This message was edited by Gary Spaeth on 06 December 2006 at 06:21 AM.] |
