Is there an optimal key to play the "Star Spangled Banner" on the E9th neck? What key is it typically published in?
Thanks for the help

There is a 1815 copy here: http://www.scienceviews.com/parks/anthem.html

It's in C .

I remember it in Bb, probably because of the horns.

When I was a kid we always played it in A flat. That seems about as close as you can get to the average make & female vocal range.

I had to play it at a Pat Buchannon for president rally with a band that played it in E and tried to make a 3 chord country song out of it. I was proud to be an American that day.......
