Great stuff!
Does anyone know if there is a CD compilation of all (or most) of Jerry's work with E.T.?
The great entertainer that he was, E.T. isn't one of my favorite vocalists; but anything Jerry played on is a must have in my collection.
I know E.T. had different steel guitarists, and I want to focus on the period with Jerry.
Thanks for any help!

When I went and heard E T and the Texas Droopydrawers, Buddy Charlton was playing pedal steel and BOY could he play!!!
He was on the C6th neck and was danciang around with both feet on the pedals. There may have been better singers than old ET, but there never was a finer gentleman! He promoted all the members in his troup all he could. Cal Smith and Jack Green were both in his band when I say him. If you can get ahold of some of their old instrumental LPs, that's some of the best picking you will ever hear!

I've seen a few of the old Ernest Tubb T.V. shows, with a young Jack Greene, sexy Jeanie Seeley, and Buddy Emmons. I enjoy E.T. for the traditional country sound that was all his own. |

Hey Ray, how ya doing. I'm having some problems with the JB fan site. I have my Active X downloads disabled and your site is now trying to open Active X downloads and it is sticking itself on my homepage google site as the site that comes up first instead of google? The audio isn't working at all, so I can't hear the samples? Sure would like to hear Earnest Tubb, thanks for the effort as always. |

Jeff,
Check out the CD Box Set (5 CDs) by Bear Family Records "Let's Say Goodbye Like We Said Hello". It contains ET recordings from 1947 to 1953. Lots of JB on that one, also Dickie Harris, Don Helms and Billy Robinson on Steel.

My All time favorite with ET and JB is "Have You Ever Been Lonely". Not only is Jerry's backup on that particularly beautiful, but he does a lick-run on it later that just blows my mind everytime I hear it.
Sadly, MOST ET "Originals" leave this classic out. Why I have never been able to figure out.
To see a list of all the songs Jerry played on with Hank Williams, click below.

I need some help from you guys who still have plain ole dial up like I do. I haven't figured out how to get my computer to stop having Active X downloads from taking over my computer when I go on Ray's Jerry Byrd Fan site. Also, the audio doesn't come on at all, even when I try to paste the mp3 source code into my browser? I was wondering if any of you guys with dial up are experiencing any of these symptoms too or am I a lone case? I have noted that I can get other audio source samples to come up and play from other sites? I have the Active X' downloads feature disabled on my computer because that is a way to get infected over the Internet from what I understand and I have never had Ray's site trying to download Active X before? Thanks...
P.S. My girlfriend might have turned something on or off on the computer that is causing my problems, just trying to get to the bottom of it. |
