Workin'Man Blues by Merle Haggard with solo by James Burton.
Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits with some hot fingerstyle no picks pickin' by Mark Knopfler.
Big Mamou by Fiddlin' Frenchie Burke with guitar solo by Randy Coroner.
I'm in Love With You Baby I Don't Even Know Your Name by Alan Jackson, solo by Brent Mason.
For a slow one how 'bout That's the Way Love Goes by Merle Haggard, incredible tasty guitar solo by Reggie Young.
Favorite Instrumental has to by Dizzy Fingers by Chet Atkins. It's a mind boggling piece of guitar artistry that I've never heard played by anyone else.
For Rock & Roll I love the Lynrd Skynrd tune called I Know a Little with some great guitar work by the late Steve Gaines. He was a monster player who died too soon.
Last but not least is the Eddie Van Halen classic Eruption, I like rock but I'm not a real great fan but you have to admire the artistry and all out fantastic chops of players like Van Halen, Steve Vai, Yngwe Malmsteen (however he spells it) and some of those guys.

I forgot Johnny Winter And Live, great album.
Albert Lee's new album of Emmy Lou songs.
The man can structure a solo!
I thought about Duane, but he didn't quite make the cut in comparison, and I love Duane's work.
Birelli LaGrene Gipsey Project, how could I forget that!
I was looking at a combination of power, speed, style, pure pyrotechnic chops,
AND over all structural design of a solo. And the "singing" quality of the solo.
Sometimes all that is on most every cut if a particular album, so listed that. Such as Hot wired, "orange album", LotMNS.
There is a Lee Ritnour/Dave Grusin direct to disc limited edition audiopile album that was awesome too.
I saw the MacGlaughlan Birds of Fire tour, and he really could play that stuff again, even better live... just scarey.
Also his acoutsic stuff with Shakti.
Oh merde... I forgot so much Tony Rice flat top stuff.
Some of his solos on Bela Fleck's Drive, an all time fav CD, and the reprise of that same band 5 years later...
I want to hear an album of Tony Rice and Tchavalo Schmitt... with Birelli LaGrene on it too.
Acoustic Guitars from Mars would be a good title.

My opinion is that there are no Best solos
they are all number one.
How abot Cliff Gallup with his Gretch Duo Jet on race with the devil(almost 50 years ago)
Scotty Moore...That's all right Mamma
Eddie Cochran...Sittin'in the balcony
James Burton....Anything he played with Ricky Nelson.

If any of you have heard the Hot Club Of America,listen to Johnny Cucci as he plays
Hora Staccato and Swamp Fire.
The Hot Club Of America is just as the title
implies. It is "Hot" add some Jody Carver steel guitar and it gets too hot to handle.

| Roseann Cash was on Austin City Limits back in the 80s and Vince Gill was a mostly unknown but she let him cut lose on "My Baby Thinks He's a Train" and that wast the first time I heard of Vince and his playing blew my through the roof and still does when he's cookin'. |
