#4004341157 The Tutmarc family presents a multi CD collection of ultra rare Hoopii recordings, and you can view some interesting photos of Sol that you may not have seen. Amongst the song titles listed, are a few high lighted that you can click on that will allow the set of pix to be enjoyed. |

I bought the cassette version many years ago along with another set that featured his "professional" recordings he sold at revivals.
Very beautiful ... all electric, all religious (except for a couple marches ... couple made it onto compilation releases) ...
The last tape has Sols last performance ... very, very sad ... Bud T. is asking for donations to pay his rent/bills ...
A must have for true Ho'opi'i fans .... but these are not the 20's "hot jazz" stuff ...
PS: Great price too ... I paid alot more for the cassettes.

I too, have the complete CASSETTE
collection. It's a wonderful treasure.
Also included amongst these tapes were a couple of tapes by BELVA(DICKERSON)DUNN who, had you not read on the label it was her playing steel, you'd swear it was SOL ! She was that good. BELVA DUNN passed away somewhere around 1995 as I recall. I met this lady in 1993 .... she was no longer able to play the steel at that time as she was confined to a wheelchair. BELVA, (as with BUD TUTMARC) studied under the great Master SOL. I would strongly urge anyone who appreciates and loves the fantastic music of SOL HO'OPI'I to purchase this item. You will never regret it ! |

Just in passing, many pronounce Sol's last name as "HOOOO-PEEEE" This is incorrect. The proper pronounciation is:
"HO-O-PEE-EE" |
