This is an old friend I knew in Fresno years ago, then met him again in Montana, then lost track of him until recently. Ray is an incredible guitar player, and I thought some of you would enjoy his new website and soundclips. http://www.singingwires.com/

Howard, Ray lives about 20 miles from me, here in Florida. I get him to pick lead at our Steel Guitar Shows.

Outstanding musician - period. Whether guitar or whatever.

Ray was one of the Horn players in the Bakersfield Brass, too.

I've previously posted samples of his picking from his new CD.

Hey man, I worked with Ray somewhere down in Montana, or Oregon or Washington, just one nighters a couple of times, I can't remember exactly where, but man I remember his picking, fantastic picker and a nice dude, that was many , many years ago, I think late 60's or early 70's, nice to hear about him. I think he picked with Ira Allen and the Renegades also, and so did I, but at different times.

Sorry Jack, I missed your previous post about Ray. And yes he is a nice guy. After I left Fresno I found him in Bakersfield working for Buck, then again in Montana, and lately in the fingerpicking room. He always could shred with the best of them when he wanted, blazing fast, and quite tasteful.

And you guys don't want to forget he worked with Barbara Mandrell for quite a spell and little known that he also did the Disneyland scene for years I think. Nice guy and my son has seen him in Florida at his venue there.

Howard,

Thanks for the post!

I often wonder what happened to Ray. Just a great guy, and an outstanding picker and singer.

I got my first Sho~Bud (Professional) through Ray at a Clovis music store.

I remember Jimmie, I was there when you picked it up. Hope you've been doing well. I've never heard about any of our old group, Shendoah.

I met him when he worked with Barbara and Julian, Rick Boyer, and Irlene was the band. Later ran into him at Doc's Place in Tampa. The stuff he played with Julian was nothing short of increadible. He told me he was a Johnny Smith student. I believe he was.....wow!!!
