Ray, keep it up. Your efforts and accomplishments are greatly appreciated by everybody. The tunes you have posted are the greatest examples of Jerry's early years that can be found. I am sure there are many more to be posted so don't let the negatives stop you. Just think how many positive comments that have not posted by people that never post on anything.

Ray -- I'm one of the people who emailed you asking if you knew how to get access on a mac. I did it because I think the site is great and I'd love to hear the clips...and I'm sure I'll figure out a way to do it. Thanks for your work, keep it up.

Ray,
I solved my problem and really enjoyed the music.
I used MS Internet Explorer with my PC, windows XP, and Media Player(?) 9.
I use Opera for browsing the internet most of the time 'cause it is faster and no pop-ups.
So, maybe tell folks to be sure to use MS Internet Explorer.

While I had my "techy" working on the audio glitches on the Jerry Byrd Fan Club site...I chanced to post the problem on the Forum's own "COMPUTER" section, which I seldom if ever visited.
WHAT A HOST OF GREAT SUGGESTIONS from very knowledgeable Forum experts. I'd suggest if any of you are still having a problem hearing the great clips of Jerry Byrd, EVEN ON A MAC, you might wish to check out the Forum's inside line to problem solving. Great alternatives to be found here. |

Can we help it if some of the younger generation doesn't appreciate the pickers who raised the bar for the rest of us.
I was a teen ager when I first heard JB with Red Foley and a bunch of other artists.
I think he was one of the first to record solo on the steel.I worked my fingers to the bone to learn "Lime House Blues " and if one tihnks that was easy at that time..think again.There was no one even in the same ball park as JB.Bless you for keeping all the JB thing alive and moving..
I don't have a big excavator you can haul but how about a D-8 Cat dozer ? ( Not to be confused with a D-8 Emmons or an F-8 Bearcat either ).Hang in there...Bud |

Willis and each of you other fine folks, thanks for the encouragement. I just wanted this site to be one of those "EVERYBODY" gets to hear Jerry Byrd. I am disappointed that some can't get it but......... NEWER equipment and/or the suggested "get arounds" will likely make it possible for each of you to hear these great performances.
I've put a couple of what I feel were his best performances up already.....like Jimmy Wakely's current tune and the earlier Red Kirk/Judy Perkins song. But trust me, I have some yet to come that quite litterally will knock the socks off ANY STEEL GUITAR FAN whether they are long time JB fans or not.
We're talking MUSIC here.......NOT one man's personal style. We're talking RICH SOUNDS that were produced with what is now antique electronic equipment. Was it the studio equipment and techs; the old Volu-Tone amp with that little dinky sized, low powered speaker; the Rick Bakelite, OR, the "MAN"?
Give it a listen and then figure it out. WOuld be interested in your determination. |
