Hi,

I contributed an 8-page feature article with 12 B&W photos to the current issue of Sing Out! magazine. The issue includes a Stacy Phillips "Teach In" of Aubrey Ghent's rendition of "Just a Closer Walk" in Dobro tuning. At your favorite news stand now, or available at www.singout.org

Congratulations Bob! Magazine writing is a lot of work for little compensation. Bob is doing a great service to both the steel and folklore communities in documenting this music.

By the way, I noticed that the Sing Out! site has some nice downloadable music - like Matt Glaser's cool jazz arrangment of Cluck Old Hen which appears on the Wayfaring Stranger's new CD (a wonderful band that includes forumite John McGann on guitar & mando).

Thanks guys. After 12 years of documenting this music it's still exciting. I tried put a few new twists in the article. Included is a reproduction of the Walter Johnson flyer I purchased on eBay (for a princely sum) after a heads-up from the Forum.

I had some fun with the subtitles, etc., especially "From Hula to Hallelujah."

By the way, both the Lee Boys and the Campbell Bros are showcasing at the Folk Alliance in San Diego this weekend. The timing of the Sing Out! feature is fortunate as a lot of the mag's readership will be there.
