I'll be interested in anything you dont want. Gotta be a way to restore the poor bugger.
The wood, tunerpans, fretboards, etc.

Years ago Fender received a letter from a fellow who wanted a quad. When they asked him
what tunings he would like to be put on his new Fender Four neck,he said it dont matter
their all the same to me.One tastes as good
as the other.
Fender shipped the Quad and it was received by this person and when he called Fender to order another. Don Randall asked him if he found anything wrong with the one that he had received a few weeks earlier, and this fellow said Oh NO
I love them all. I just finished having dinner. Randall wondered what he meant and said Oh Im sorry to have disturbed your dinner,,the fellow replied OH NO I had a great meal..I just ate the Quad and need another. I like tasty guitars.
Jeffrey Daumer was his name. ![](http://steelguitarforum.com/eek.gif) |

Harry,
If you get the guitar I would like the four chrome "diamonds" off the front and back of the guitar. I am in the process of rebuilding a chopped up Stringmaster. All I have is the front neck. However, I have picked up most of the required parts with the exception of the diamonds and the chrome bridge cover.

My God, 'R' rated Ebay! That was gory, it reminded me of the retraction cadavers at my 2nd year med anatomy class. I hope someone signed the organ donor card, this one's DOA. But, I could use the bezel and jack assembly for my patient in California. |

It seems there were a lot of "Fender benders" back when everyone was trying to get the pedal sound.
I wonder why Jerry Byrd didn't try to install one on his Rick? Don't tell me;___let me guess.

Sorry guys,
It has already gone over what I feel comfortable spending on it although it is probably worth a little more for what parts are there. Here is what I was figuring:
Tuning heads $50-$75 ea.
24 1/2" scale fretboards $25.00 ea.
4 chrome diamonds $20.00 set
2 nuts $10.00 ea.
4 leg sockets $5.00 ea.
1 output jack assy. $10.00
3 pickups (may or may not work) $50-75 ea.
1 Swiss cheese body - best offer
Misc. screws ??
Total = $370.00 to $495.00 in parts
Current bid = $310 + $30 shipping = $340.00
Current high bidder has 0 feedback so I don't want to get into a bidding war with that as they have nothing to loose by running it up.

I tend to admire the do-it-yourself work ethic. However, the "craftsman" should have just sold the Stringmaster, got an additional part-time job, and bought a pedal steel. After all of that effort to save a few dollars, he ended up with nothing. A very misguided effort.
It is like the current guitarists who buy cheap Fender Squier knock-offs and replace the hardware, electronics, and even the nut. Sometimes, even the neck! Then, they think they have a Fender "Whatever"-caster.
They don't. It still says "junk" on the headstock, to me. |

Now hold on guys. If you're as old as I am, you probably did something similar to an old
steel. There weren't any pedal steels around unless you could afford a Bigsby. I drilled holes in my Gibson Console grand, plus a couple of welding rods, a 1X4 board, and I had what served as a pedal steel. Played it on the old La Hayride circuit til I finally got a chance to buy a Fender 1000. That Stringmaster looks like the guy saw an early
Sho Bud, and copied some of the parts. What's more I'll bet the thing worked at some time.

Paul,
Not everything that is cheap is junk !!...I can remember when everybody avoided the "made in Japan" Fenders like the plauge when they first came out ....Little did we know how good they really were unitl year's later ... This is progress ??...
While there are some items out there that really are CHEAP because they are inexpensive , there are other items that are inexpesive, that are NOT cheap items
I wonder how many recording's were made using the old Danelectro guitars ? |
