Let's hope that the "suits" on the "Row" see this & try to "follow suit"!! How much more of a "hint" do they need,to see what the record buying public REALLY want?
This was an article in the "Entertainment" section of the "Tennessean" newspaper
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"....For example, in the week before the Nov. 15 broadcast of the awards show, hosts Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn's album Hillbilly Deluxe sold 10,000 copies. Last week it sold 26,000, a 158% increase. Sales of Brad Paisley's Time Well Wasted doubled, from 15,000 to 30,000. And Martina McBride's Timeless was up by 30,000 copies to 82,000, a one-week increase of 58%."
Does this mean that if we have an awards show every week, we might actually save country music?
Not to be a skeptic but how did the New Country sales do? In other words, did they double also?
That's an interesting point, I would like to know what effect performances at the CMA Awards Show had on each performer's record sales the following week. Lets face it, whether any of us care for the new music or not exposure is what sells high volumes of recordings. Personally I just wish I could produce projects that could sell 10,000 units in 90 days. I would be tickled with that volume of sales.
I don't know how the post-music sales did. The point I was trying to get across was,the BIGGEST sales in Country Music was the TRADITIONAL type. Give 'em what THEY want,NOT what YOU want!
That's GREAT! A good friend of mine told me he bought the new Martina record, and had nothing but high praise for it. He even offered to burn me a copy of it, and I told him I would go to the store and BUY it.
Lets all jump on board, and purchace it. lets send a message to the record execs, that TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC WILL SELL. I've worn out this statement, but I play in a Tradtional Country Band every Tuesday night in West Fort Worth Texas, and we're PACKED! We're getting a lot of younger folks that are eating the good old stuff up! They approach the band stand, and request songs like, "Pick Me Up On Your Way Down", "Green Snakes On The Celing", "Heart Over Mind", and the message is Good Music is TIMELESS!! GREAT THREAD!
