Any builders making Stringmaster copies? Love the guitar, can't afford the real thing at the moment. Also, I heard a rumor of Fender Japan making a Stringmaster re-issue. Any truth to it?

thanks,
Drew

They did a while back but, as far as I know, they have discontinued production.

If you can't afford the real thing, you really couldn't have afforded the Japanese reissues. They were far more expensive than a nice used one.

Closest was the CANOPUS and very pricey.

I have mentioned ELVA WEST many times on the Forum. I have 5 of his guitars, each of which are very nice instruments. Elva
lives in Anaheim, CA and builds his guitars at home more-or-less as a hobby. He will build a guitar for you using his design or yours. Elva is a retired electronics technician who winds his own pickups. He is also a hobby steel guitarist and is in the ministry. His e-mail address is: elvawest@hotmail.com

Jeff, I agree. The Guyatones leave a lot to be desired. I feel the Canopus is the better of the two, but neither one can touch the "Stringmaster" or the "Custom" for that matter.
