Has anyone else heard this live disc featuring our very own Herb Steiner? If not, do yourself a favor and BUY IT! I've heard of Cornell as well as read about him here on the forum. I finally broke down and picked up a disc just to check them out. I'll be buying more in the future. Any suggestions? Live At The Broken Spoke looks and sounds like a a good choice.

Hey Herb.....Where ever you are.......YOU'RE GREAT MAN!

I'll calm down now.

Love Cornell. Whenever I'm in Austin I go to Jovita's on Thursday night and hang out and laugh. Cornell is one funny (sick) man. If you ever get a chance to see him "live" go for it.

Hi Robbie - Glad to hear you're enjoying the At Large CD. Herb did a splendid job on that one. Cornell has many CDs available. He's been putting out about 1 a year for at least that last 12 or so years. And he started back in the vinyl days. Check out http://www.cornellhurdband.com for more info.

I'm partial to the latest CD, Fanmail from the Lost Planet. It features many fine players including Scott Walls on steel. Great original tunes plus some obscure covers. The Live at the Broken Spoke is a real good one that still sells well after all these years. There's no steel on that one though. You may also want to give a listen to Cen-Tex Serenade and Song of South Austin. Both CDs are packed with music (over 20 songs) and cover the gamut from honky-tonk shuffles, western swing and R&B/rockabilly. Cen-Tex even features Cornell's 80 year old uncle Raoul reciting his beat poetry to our improvised hipster backgrounds.

We're heading to France tomorrow to play one show at the Country Rendez-Vous festival. We're back on Monday. If you're ever in Austin, check us out at Jovita's. We're there every Thursday nite unless we're heading to France. You just might see Dayna Wills there too.

Keep swingin',
HK

Hey Howard,
Thanks for the reply and info on Cornell. All the musicianship on AT LARGE is top notch. The more I listen to the disc the more I love it. Scott Walls huh? Haven't heard from him in quite a while. He's a great player as well. I guess that I don't have to tell you that. Have fun in France. Don't forget to pack your Jango Reinhart licks for the trip. Or, in your case, Stephan Grapelli.
