Finally, I can throw away the boxes and boxes of vintage cowbells I have been lugging around for years. I can at last say goodbye to the endless hours of polishing, soldering, humidifying and tweeking that is part and parcel of cowbell ownership.
Our long national nightmare is over.
Thank you RadMonkey!

Wow! I've never heard one cowbell sound like... uh... er... pretty much just one cowbell. OK, maybe like three.
They say necessity is the mother of invention. This was necessary???
Oy...

From what I've gleaned, Betty Cooper of "Archies" fame designed and is the marketing genius behind the RadMonkey.
The RadMonkey is her "test balloon" into the world of digital instrument modeling. If it sells she will apply the same technology to her favorite instrument.

Hey! If you click your mouse on the bells fast enough, you can play a tune! I don't think I'll trade my steel for a set, though.

Finally Cowbell players can practice with headphones!
There's been an on going discussion about this at at recording forum I frequent.

The RadMonkey site is the creation of a very funny writter named Kevin Ryan. It looks as real as those eBay and PayPal scam sites I get invited to. We are lucky Kevin has used his talents for good, as the site looks so real.
Kevin has a Beatles studio book in the works that we are looking forward to.

Guess Bobbe Seymour's right. I'm tone deaf!
For the life of me, I can only hear 4 different cowbells in their little demonstration. I've grouped all the ones together (below) that sound alike to me...
Oregon Trail Model 75
Snowflake
Edinburgh LT
Standard
Alma Cogan Model V
Chicken Nugget
Black Beauty
Oregon Trail Model 82
Cooper Flask
Butterscotch Quail
Green Bean
Esher West
'Course, it could be that I've got a chintzy soundcard, too, I suppose! |
