They're coming to Philly next month. I might go, for a chance to see Jimmy Messina do his thing. What a player!
Anybody seen these guys lately?

Your momma don't dance and your daddy don't rock & roll. A must see if appearing nearby. [This message was edited by Ray Minich on 20 May 2005 at 10:44 PM.] |

I was emailing with Earnest about this,
he knows this years fiddler.
Says he wasn't born when they last toured.
I wish I could see this tour. But they ain't likely to play Bangkok... DRAT.[This message was edited by David L. Donald on 20 May 2005 at 11:51 PM.] |

I know the piano player for tour .
His name is Gabe Dixon. He was roomates with a goodfriend of mine at Miami Universiy and they still keep in touch.
Really talented guy. He was signed to Epic or Warner because of a demo Eddie Kramer(hendrix,Zepplin) produced and enginered. He did it for free because he liked Gabes Music and wanted to help him out.
Things went kinda slow on his first record and he got calls for some session work and what are you gonna do when people want to pay you to play and you need to eat.
He is on Paul McCarty's last album .That's a no brainer when you get that call.
Sorry if it's a little off topics..I just heard he on that tour. -Dave

Gabe Witcher, aged about 26, plays fiddle on the reunion tour this year, and says he also contributes some mandolin, dobro, & percussion. Kenny and Jimmy were also hiring twenty-somethings when I was in the band about xxx years ago. At that time Woody Paul was their fiddler, one month after MIT gave him a PhD in theoretical physics for his work on confining a hot plasma in a tokomak long enough and hot enough and dense enough to get some fusion going, a problem which he thought was about as solvable as powering an airplane with a steam engine, so he decided to play fiddle instead. |

Steel guitar family of instruments content: Gabe Witcher is the regular fiddle player for The Jerry Douglas Band, when Jerry is touring with his own group and not playing with Alison Krauss & Union Station. Gabe's younger brother Michael, is one of the really hot up and coming dobro players on the scene. The Witchers come from a family of fine musicians, they're Southern California folks.

If they come near here, I WILL see them.
I had tickets to a show in 1974, and I had to give them away when I was required to go home and play a gig of my own. Broke my heart.
Thanks for the news! I love that band. |
