I haven't heard this recording on the radio in quite a long time, but when it was "new" it was played fairly often. I never learned the name of it.

I'd like to know the name of the song, what album it was on, and who the performers are.

I know one of you forumites will know it right off the bat.

I'm pretty sure --if my memory serves me correctly-- that it sounded a lot like Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.

I remember the lyrics to the "refrain" of the song went something like:

"There ain't no good in an evil-hearted woman;
and I ain't cut out to be no Jesse James;
You don't go writin' hot checks down in Mississippi;
and there ain't no good chain gang."

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me the info I'm looking for.
