Just recieved this from a friend in SF-it doesn't look good for the former NRPS and original Jefferson Airplane drumnmer..
perhaps you could ask your group to send good wishes and
prayers for Spencer – his cancer has progressed to Stage 4 and due to
some complications, he cannot undergo chemotherapy—a recent
development which precludes most options for improvement. He is back
in the hospital after only a week or so at home, and I am going to
try to go out to be with him for a bit some time in the very near
future, as there may not be a lot of time. One never knows, though,
so I am hoping that those of us who have been affected by his
innovative style of playing or just enjoyed his music or his unique
form of insanity will send their best wishes, prayers, mo-jo, gris-
gris, good thoughts, or any other positive energy to him and to
Jesse, who is doing his level best to deal with the bureaucracy that
is MediCal, Social Security, etc., etc., etc.
It's from Sally Romano. Lets keep Spence in our thoughts..
