I just bought a 50's National Dynasonic lap steel. It is White, Red, & Black much like one I have seen on Brads website. Anybody out there have one of these, and are you happy with it? Also I have noticed that some listings of what look to be the same lap call it a Dynamic. What is the diff between a National Dynasonic vs. a National Dynamic? |

I've never heard of a National Dynasonic lap steel, nor does Gruhn's Guide to Vintage Guitars list such a model. it sounds like you have a Dynamic. You can compare your serial number against this list to determine the year your lap steel was made.

Terry: Assuming it's this guitar from eBay, it is a Dynamic from between 1956 and 1964. If it sounds as good as it looks, you're going to love it! |

Thanks Brad & Russ...That is the one I just bought. The seller said that it sounded great & that I would not be disapointed. I was just wondering who else had one and how they liked them. |

My National Dynamic is my current main axe. I find it fits my needs better than any other lap steel I own. Greg Leisz is another fine National Dynamic owner and player.

Freddie Roulette makes his eight-string Dynamic "talk." And I saw David Lindley playing one in a recent documentary about Warren Zevon's final album. In fact, Mr. Dave has his late '40s Dynamic pictured on his web site. |

I was impressed with Roy Thomson's audio samples and it turned out they were recorded on the same model National lap steel. I think that steel has one of the best sounds out there and I would like to own one myself one day. Not only does Roy have some of the best tone, his vibrato is a lesson in itself, it's so nice. |
